Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University seeks a Data Security Engineer to implement and improve controls protecting institutional data across analytics platforms and databases. You will work hands-on on encryption, key management, access controls, and secure data pipelines in a remote-friendly role.

You will collaborate with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT teams, report to the Deputy CISO, and operate 100% remotely from approved states. Attendance and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database security or related field.
• Proficiency with SQL and data protection controls.

Responsibilities

• Implements and maintains data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Operates encryption controls for data at rest and in transit and manages keys/secrets.
• Implements least-privilege access models and conducts entitlement reviews.
• Hardens security configurations for Azure SQL, Databricks, and data platforms.
• Automates control deployment and integrates telemetry with Security Operations.
