Macy's is seeking a Senior Reliability Maintenance Technician to oversee hands-on automation, MHE maintenance, and integration of electrical, mechanical, and computer systems in a distribution center.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Mechatronics Technology or at least 4 years of industry experience.
• Multiskilled in electrical and mechanical disciplines with experience in automation, complex MHE environments, and/or robotic operation and maintenance.
• Solid foundational knowledge of PLC-based control systems.
• Experience using CMMS to plan proactive maintenance and record tasks.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals.
• Ability to read, understand, and create mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics.
• Must be able to read and understand employment policies and safety rules in English and communicate effectively with coworkers and leaders.
• Resourceful self-starter who works well independently and as part of a team.
• Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects and workload.
• Proven ability to mentor and influence others on the team.
• PC competency and ability to use handheld devices.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including day, evening, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on and demonstrate SME-level knowledge on automation and other MHE in the building.
• Coach and mentor technicians on shift.
• Support the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor and lead the shift in their absence.
• Provide high levels of equipment availability by troubleshooting and prioritizing repairs.
• Install, alter, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electronic, mechanical, computer, control systems and components in a complex fulfillment/distribution center.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns, communicate with affected parties, and work efficiently to fix issues.
• Support continuous improvement by learning from breakdowns and providing feedback and suggestions through the line manager.
• Combine electronic, mechanical, computer, and control skills to identify equipment malfunctions, perform maintenance/repairs, and return equipment to service.
• Model safety best practices and monitor others to ensure they follow safe practices; report safety concerns to the Manager or Supervisor.
• Observe and listen to operating machines to diagnose malfunctions and determine repairs.
• Perform preventative maintenance on material handling equipment, including daily system inspections of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components; report problems to the Manager or Supervisor.
• Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to monitor, document, and report usage and replacement of parts.
• Perform preventative maintenance on facilities (carpentry, plumbing, and electrical).
• Knowledge of operation and safe storage practices of ARC and MIG welding equipment, including OXY/ACETYLENE and PLASMA welding and cutting.
• May be required to install or recharge batteries for battery-powered material handling equipment.
• Perform electrical tasks such as replacing motors, fuses, and switches.
• Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities.
