Job summary

Macy's is looking for a Maintenance Technician to keep our distribution center operating at peak performance. You will diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on material handling equipment and conveyors.

This hands-on role requires at least 2 years of maintenance experience, strong communication, and the ability to work flexible schedules including weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of direct maintenance experience, commercial or industrial maintenance‑related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with co‑workers, supervisors, customers, office staff, receiving teams, fleet maintenance administration, management, carriers, and drivers.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret employment policies, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals in English.
• Resourceful self‑starter who works well independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency with computers, handheld technology, and computerized maintenance management systems.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose equipment issues by observing, listening to, and testing operating machines to determine the need for adjustment, repair, or replacement.
• Troubleshoot and repair material handling equipment, including sorters, conveyors, industrial batteries, and related systems.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components to help reduce downtime and keep operations moving.
• Use computerized maintenance systems to monitor, document, and report equipment usage, parts replacement, repairs, and maintenance activity.
• Support facility maintenance needs, including basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, cleaning, lubrication, and corrosion prevention.
