Job summary

INS Engineering is seeking a lead protection and control engineer to personally develop and validate relay settings for utility and renewable projects. You will review protection schematics, coordination plots, and setting files while leading QA/QC across concurrent assignments.

You’ll mentor engineers, coordinate with project managers on scope and risk, and present protection approaches to utilities and clients, with a focus on reliability and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE or P.Eng license is required or in process.
• Recent hands-on ownership of relay settings for utility/renewable projects.
• Experience with line protection schemes and transformer/station functions.
• Proficiency with protection relay platforms (SEL/GE/Siemens/ABB).
• Ability to lead QA/QC and client discussions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate relay settings and coordination plots.
• Review protection schematics, CT/PT circuits and bus protection.
• Lead QA/QC, coordinate inputs across projects.
• Present settings approaches to utilities and clients.
