Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Lead Relay Field Engineer in the Field Engineering department. The role focuses on calibration, installation, maintenance, and repair of protective relays and associated equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation of the electric grid.

The candidate will lead commissioning activities, interpret substation drawings, develop test plans, and troubleshoot complex relay systems. Strong leadership, communication, and field experience are essential.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited EE degree required.
• Minimum 5 years field experience in commissioning and testing.
• Experience with substation protection and relay systems preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Proficient in English communication and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Plan commissioning, schedule resources, and lead field teams.
• Interpret substation drawings and wiring diagrams.
• Write test procedures and isolation plans.
• Test relays, meters, alarms, and SCADA interfaces.
• Troubleshoot and repair substation relaying equipment.
• Provide technical support and mentorship to field staff.
• Serve as SME in protective relaying and lead small project teams.
