Job summary

Banc of California, Inc. is seeking an experienced Commercial Lending professional to source opportunities, analyze credit requests, and underwrite loan proposals for commercial real estate and working capital facilities.

The role involves gathering information, presenting written credit analyses to senior staff, coordinating with loan administration, and maintaining relationships with borrowers and referral partners to support growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6-8 years of experience in commercial lending, including valuation and asset management, and financial analysis is required
• B.A. Degree in finance or related field and/or related work experience is required
• Regulatory compliance with state and federal laws (Reg Z, Reg B, FHA, HMDA, RESPA, FCRA, BSA/AML, CIP, RFPA, CRA)
• A general knowledge of loan documentation, collateral analysis and financial statements
• PC proficiency with emphasis on spreadsheets (Word, Excel, Argus)
• Familiarity with Moody’s analysis systems
• Excellent composing and writing skills
• Familiarity with nCino system
• Interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with a wide range of people
• Positive attitude and willingness to work
• Responsiveness, judgment, maturity, integrity, and time management
• Knowledge of departmental and HR policies & procedures

Responsibilities

• Establish relationships with new and existing clients.
• Analyze lending opportunities including working capital lines and owner-occupied real estate loans.
• Evaluate borrower and guarantor balance sheets and cash flows for credit decisions.
• Gather information to make initial decisions or create credit displays.
• Prepare investment analyses and credit packages for managers.
• Maintain knowledge of borrowers and collateral to ensure loan performance.
• Manage financial ticklers.
• Coordinate with loan administrators and legal counsel to close facilities.
• Stay updated on market trends and grow referral networks.
• Participate in interviewing and hiring decisions.
• Prepare and deliver employee evaluations and goal planning.
• Coach and train staff; follow policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
