Job summary

B&B Concrete Contractors in Remote position seeks an experienced Reinforcing-Steel Estimator/Lead to become a technical resource for estimating, project management and operations. You will help establish estimating standards, production rates, cost databases and detailing processes.

The ideal candidate has substantial hands-on reinforcing-steel experience, preferably with a rebar fabricator or major concrete contractor, and can review drawings, perform takeoffs, and develop reliable cost

Qualifications

• 7+ years in reinforcing-steel industry or related field.
• Significant experience estimating reinforcing steel or detailing reinforcing steel.
• Experience with large concrete-intensive projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from structural drawings and specifications.
• Develop accurate estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor, equipment, freight and other project costs.
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions based on project-specific conditions.
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, congestion, splice requirements, couplers, dowels and other reinforcing requirements.
• Review plans and specifications for scope gaps, discrepancies and constructability concerns.
• Identify project risks and potential cost exposures before bid submission.
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates.
• Assist management in establishing final bid strategy and selling price.
• Solicit and evaluate material, fabrication, freight and subcontractor pricing when required.
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions.
