Job summary

B&B Concrete is seeking a senior estimating professional to lead reinforcing-steel takeoffs, pricing, and detailing across large concrete projects. You will review structural drawings, develop labor and material costs, and establish standards for the department.

The role requires hands-on experience with detailing, estimating and project coordination to support management decisions. Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in reinforcing-steel and proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, RebarCAD, and

Qualifications

• Hands-on Reinforcing-Steel experience in estimating and detailing
• Ability to review structural drawings and specifications
• Develop labor and material pricing, understand detailing requirements
• Identify constructability issues and cost/risk recs before bid
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates
• Mentor junior estimators and detailers as department grows
• Lead development of estimating standards and templates
• Coordinate RFIs and pricing with suppliers and subcontractors
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions

Responsibilities

• Perform complete reinforcing-steel quantity takeoffs from drawings/specs
• Develop accurate estimates for material, fabrication, detailing, placing labor, equipment, freight and other costs
• Establish labor hours and production assumptions
• Analyze bar sizes, tonnage, congestion and other reinforcing requirements
• Review plans for scope gaps and constructability
• Identify project risks and cost exposures before bid submission
• Prepare conceptual, preliminary and final estimates
• Assist management in bid strategy and selling price
• Solicit material, fabrication, freight and subcontractor pricing
• Maintain organized estimate documentation and assumptions
• Review placing drawings and coordinate with structural/MEP requirements
• Coordinate RFIs and revisions
• Lead department in standardizing procedures
• Participate in preconstruction meetings and project strategy discussions
• Establish production-rate benchmarks and historical cost databases
• Support project mgmt with change-order pricing and cost analysis
• Develop and implement estimating/detailing software and templates
• Mentor junior staff to build scalable estimating/detailing capability
• Ensure quality-control procedures for takeoffs and placing drawings
