Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer for a remote role supporting the Veterans Affairs (VA) department. The position is full-time with a Public Trust (MBI) clearance, requiring 10+ years in software testing.

You will develop and execute test plans, write test cases and scripts, lead verification activities, and collaborate across IT teams to ensure quality and security of information systems and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field with 10+ years of experience.
• Advanced certifications in testing or QA (ISTQB, CSTE, CSQA) encouraged.
• U.S. Citizenship required; must meet security clearance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures to ensure information systems meet standards and end-user requirements.
• Develop test plans, schedule, and approach.
• Write test cases and scripts and identify data for test scenarios.
• Conduct walkthroughs with Test Managers and development leads.
• Perform and lead tests on software and IT systems to ensure proper operation and defect-free status.
• Document and communicate test results; support analysis of results and issue resolution.
• Create daily test metrics and reporting.
