Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Software Test Engineer for a 100% remote role supporting the Veterans Affairs department. You will design and execute test plans, automate where possible, and ensure high-quality software deliveries in a regulated environment. You will collaborate with developers and QA teams, apply risk-based testing, manage test artifacts, and mentor junior testers.

U.S. citizenship and Public Trust (MBI) clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or Python.
• Experience with manual and automated testing across complex software projects.
• Proficiency in test case/script/plan creation and execution.
• Knowledge of Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, QTP or LoadRunner.
• Familiar with CI/CD (GitHub Actions) and version control (Git/Subversion).
• Understanding of performance testing (JMeter/Gatling) and databases/SQL.
• Experience testing web apps, APIs, and services; security testing awareness.
• Exposure to risk-based, exploratory, and context-driven testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, cases, and procedures to meet requirements.
• Create test schedules, approaches, and data for scenarios.
• Write test scripts and lead verification activities with teams.
• Document, communicate, and report test results and issues.
• Support analysis of results and progress on resolutions.
• Mentor junior testers and guide test reviews and feedback.
• Apply DevOps practices and manage test artifacts across projects.
• Perform various testing types: functional, regression, integration, UAT.
