Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer to support a long-term DIA-NDOC DOMEX Technology Platform contract. The role involves collaborating with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, and Operations to deliver backend and middle-tier work. On-site in Bethesda, MD with flexible schedules and client-dependent remote opportunities.

The position emphasizes Python, microservices, Kafka, Elasticsearch, and CI/CD in a Linux environment, with a focus on quality, testing, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with 6-10 years of related experience or Master's with 4-8 years.
• Proficiency in Python and back-end frameworks (FastAPI, Flask).
• Experience containerizing apps with Docker.
• ETL experience and Linux scripting capability.
• Strong RESTful API design and microservice knowledge.
• Hands-on Kubernetes for deployment, monitoring, and debugging.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Git-based workflows.
• Knowledge of logging, monitoring, and security practices.
• Excellent communication and Agile teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python microservices.
• Implement Kafka-based message consumers and producers.
• Integrate Elasticsearch for real-time data indexing and queries.
• Write unit and integration tests with high coverage.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and deploy in Kubernetes clusters.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and architecture planning.
• Monitor production issues using observability tools.
• Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Architects, and Operations managers.
