Job summary

Leidos seeks a TS/SCI cleared Software Engineer in Bethesda to develop Python microservices, deploy in Kubernetes, and integrate with Kafka and Elasticsearch. You will collaborate with Systems, Software, and Operations teams on a broad range of backend tasks, with occasional remote work based on client needs.

The role emphasizes scalable, observable, and secure systems leveraging cloud, AI/ML, and cross-domain transfer tech.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with 8+ years of experience or Master’s with 6+ years.
• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with ability to obtain a polygraph.
• Proficiency in Python and backend frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Flask).
• Experience with containerization, especially Docker.
• Experience in ETL.
• Linux/bash scripting experience.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and microservice architecture.
• Hands-on Kubernetes: deploying, monitoring, debugging services.
• Experience with Git and CI/CD workflows (GitLab or Jenkins).
• Strong communication skills and AGILE experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Python microservices.
• Implement message consumers/producers with Apache Kafka.
• Integrate with Elasticsearch for real-time and batch indexing/search.
• Write unit/integration tests with high code coverage.
• Build CI/CD pipelines and deploy in Kubernetes clusters.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and architecture planning.
• Monitor production issues using observability tools.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver reliable software.
