Job summary

BriteCore is seeking a Senior Python Backend Engineer to modernize and scale financial systems for P&C insurers. You’ll work on billing, payments, and commissions using Python, Django, JavaScript, and Vue.js in a fully remote role.

The role requires strong backend expertise, cloud experience with AWS, and a focus on reliable, scalable financial platforms. This is a long-term independent contractor position with global remote options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 5+ years of Python web development experience, with focus on financial systems.
• 3+ years of SaaS product development and cloud-based solutions.
• 3+ years of hands-on Django or other Python framework.
• 3+ years of experience with relational databases (MySQL) and SQL for financial data.
• 2+ years of experience building and consuming APIs for financial transactions.
• Advanced mathematical skills in financial modeling and data processing.
• Hands-on experience with Vue.js or React.
• Experience with Docker and AWS (EC2, API Gateway, Lambda).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and scaling of billing, payments, and commissions modules.
• Design architecture for performance, scalability, and reliability of the financial platform.
• Collaborate with product management to launch secure, user-friendly financial features.
• Participate in Agile processes with Scrum, CI, automated testing, code reviews, and version control.
• Own unit tests to ensure accuracy of financial formulas and transactions.
• Resolve performance, scalability, and reliability challenges to keep systems efficient.
• Stay current with trends in financial app development and share insights.
