Job summary

Self Financial, Inc. is seeking a Python engineer to join the Business Systems team. You will design, build, and operate Python services that connect CRM, payments, and internal data services in a high-traffic, latency-sensitive environment.

You will tackle production performance issues and implement caching, observability, and scalable architecture to support real-time customer outcomes. Ideal candidates have strong Python experience, async programming, and deep knowledge of data integration,

Qualifications

• Strong professional experience with Python, including async programming and building/maintaining REST APIs.
• Solid understanding of data integration between services and how to keep data consistent across systems.
• Strong understanding of HTTP design (pagination, timeouts, rate limiting, caching) and debugging performance in live services.
• Experience with a key-value store or caching (Redis a plus) and caching/invalidation tradeoffs.
• Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred).
• Comfort reading logs and distributed traces to debug systems issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Python services (REST APIs) that integrate CRM with downstream systems.
• Diagnose and resolve performance issues in production under load.
• Use async Python to parallelize I/O-bound work without sacrificing throughput.
• Implement and tune caching layers (e.g., Redis) for high-throughput endpoints.
• Build and maintain CRM integrations (Salesforce) including data queries and REST sync.
• Deploy and operate services in AWS or similar cloud environments.
• Use observability tools to trace requests and validate fixes with production data.
• Write clean, well-tested code with clear API, business logic, and infrastructure separation.
• Participate in on-call/production-support; triage alerts and coordinate fixes.
• Collaborate with other teams, DevOps/SRE, and product stakeholders.
