Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Performance Engineer II - O&M to oversee daily operations of active solar and storage projects. Remote or hybrid work options are available, with in-office presence in San Diego, CA or Bend, OR as discussed during interview.

The role emphasizes safety, data-driven reporting, and performance optimization across PV plants. Requires PV modeling experience, strong communication, and ability to lead a team of engineers in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, science, or related technical discipline
• 4+ years’ experience in PV Performance Engineering or data analytics
• Experience with modeling software: PVSyst, PlantPredict, SAM
• Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Experience with programming languages: Python, VBA, MATLAB, Java
• Ability to travel up to 20% of time
• Strong understanding of Renewable Energy industry and cross-functional collaboration
• Excellent communication and analytical skills

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operational activities of active projects
• Collaborate with internal teams to collect data and deliver reports and tests
• On-board active projects into Performance Team platforms
• Track issues and optimize fleet performance with cross-functional teams
• Troubleshoot data/equipment and correlate with workorder data for reporting
• Lead and coordinate Performance Engineers I & II
• Maintain understanding of site design and equipment issues
• Analyze energy losses and system performance impacts
• Update client reports including commissioning and test reports
• Support field teams through prioritization based on criticality
• Work with OEMs, field technicians, SCADA engineers to resolve issues
• Mentor Performance Engineers and assist with data analytics tool development
• Review and ensure accuracy of performance/operational analyses
• Drive plant performance optimization initiatives with teams and clients
• Maintain documentation and standard operating procedures
• Coordinate project reviews and client requests as needed
• Review turnover documentation for root causes of underperformance
• Run PV system energy models using PVsyst or similar tools
• Verify drawings and system layouts
• Develop and maintain troubleshooting/reporting templates
• Execute tasks per workflow and maintain status notes
• Grow into subject matter expert in PV power plants
• Perform other duties as assigned
