Job summary

WSP is seeking a Protection Engineer - Senior Professional Electrical Engineer with a Protective Relaying emphasis for our Orlando, FL office. Remote work from a mutually acceptable location may be considered, with travel as required.

You will design and study protection systems for bulk power and lead teams on client projects within the ESSP group, contributing to reliability and compliance across transmission and distribution assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
• 5–7 years electrical engineering experience on protective relaying projects.
• Engineer in Training Certification.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and study protection systems for bulk power equipment (substations, lines, generators, renewables).
• Lead project teams to meet scope, schedule and budget; mentor junior engineers.
• Analyze protection and relay settings; ensure coordination with SCADA systems.
• Collaborate with clients and apply IEEE/ANSI/NERC standards where applicable.
