Job summary

WSP is seeking a Protection Engineer, Senior Professional Electrical Engineer with a Protective Relaying emphasis, to join our Orlando, FL office with consideration for Augusta, ME; Freeport, ME; Syracuse, NY; Charlotte, NC; Overland Park, KS; and Richmond, VA locations. Remote work from a mutually acceptable location may be possible.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
• 5 to 7 years of relevant post-education experience in Protective Relaying for power systems.
• Engineer in Training Certification.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Proven safety record and compliance with health, safety, and harassment policies.

Responsibilities

• Design, engineer, and study protection systems for bulk power equipment incl. substations, transmission lines, generators, renewables, and distribution.
• Lead client project teams, provide technical guidance and mentorship.
• Support data collection with onsite visits and discuss project specifics with clients.
• Ensure adherence to IEEE, ANSI, or NERC PRC standards in design work.
• Collaborate within the ESSP team on protection studies and electrical studies.
