WSP is seeking a Protection Engineer for the Senior Professional Electrical Engineer with a Protective Relaying emphasis role. The position supports our Orlando, FL office with remote options and potential travel to Augusta, ME; Freeport, ME; Syracuse, NY; Charlotte, NC; Overland Park, KS; and Richmond, VA.

You will contribute to protection system design across substations, transmission, generators, renewables, and distribution, leading project teams and mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering required.
• Engineer in Training Certification required.
• Willingness to travel per project requirements.
• Strong safety culture and adherence to policies.

Responsabilités

• Design, engineer, and study protection systems for bulk power equipment (substations, transmission, generators, renewables, distribution).
• Lead client projects, ensure scope, schedule and budget, provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Develop protection analyses and relay settings; coordinate with SCADA; support standards compliance (IEEE, ANSI, NERC).
• Acquire data from field sites and discuss project specifics with clients at technical level.
• Utilize industry tools (IEC/IEEE standards) and hardware (SEL, GE, Siemens, RTDS) for protection work.
