Job summary

Qualus is seeking a seasoned Lead Protection & Control Engineer to guide a team in delivering comprehensive relay and SCADA design packages for major substations. The role emphasizes mentorship, client interaction, and cross-disciplinary coordination.

Ideal candidates have 7+ years in protection & control, a PE license, and proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation. The position supports remote work options across the U.S. with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) required; MS considered in lieu.
• Seven (7) or more years of electrical engineering experience; protection & control focus required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Familiar with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of protection & control engineers through proposal to as-built.
• Coordinate with Substation Physical Engineering, Relay Settings and other groups.
• Develop complete engineering design packages for protective relaying and comms systems.
• Develop SCADA packages and data sheets.
• Provide technical direction and on-the-job training to drafters and engineers.
• Build and maintain client relationships with senior engineers and executives.
• Present technical solutions to customers and address questions confidently.
• Attend client meetings and site visits for data collection/delivery.
• Ensure QA/QC processes are followed on all design packages.
• Delegate, plan, prioritize, and review work of other engineers.
