Job summary

Shermco Industries, Inc. is seeking a Protection and Control Technician in Illinois (Minooka) to install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay and RTU systems for utility clients.

The role requires 5+ years in electrical testing, experience with SEL and GE relays, and a background in substations; travel and field work are expected. Qualifications

• 5+ years in electrical testing with protection and control equipment.
• BS in Engineering or Technology or technical school diploma or military experience.
• Experience with SEL, GE, ABB, and Westinghouse relays.
• Experience with substation RTU and telecom equipment for utility clients.
• Experience with scoping, scheduling, and budgeting for protection and control projects.
• Familiar with NERC CIP requirements.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, test, and maintain protective relay equipment and RTUs.
• Functional testing for protection and control circuitry on HV assets.
• RTU and telecom upgrades for clients.
• Review, document, and submit test reports for client reporting and regulatory use.
• Interpret wiring diagrams and configurations; identify discrepancies.
• Complete time and expense reports; maintain company vehicle.
