Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an organized, proactive Senior Project/Portfolio Coordinator to support software development and application management teams in Charleston. You will manage project administration, track deliverables, coordinate team activities, and translate technical progress into clear status reports.

The role requires strong communication, scheduling, and RAID management skills, with responsibility across engineering, QA, UI/UX, DevOps, and infrastructure teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, information technology, computer science, or a related field; relevant professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Three or more years of experience supporting software development, information technology, or technical project teams.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain any security clearance or access requirements associated with the position.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize Jira and Azure DevOps boards, backlogs, workflows, and project schedules.
  • Ensure work items include clear acceptance criteria, accurate status updates, appropriate tags, and story-point estimates.
  • Coordinate sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, release readiness reviews, and other project meetings.
  • Track project milestones, deliverables, deadlines, dependencies, risks, issues, and resource constraints.
  • Maintain RAID logs and provide early notification of potential schedule delays or project roadblocks.
  • Document meeting notes, track action items, and follow up with responsible team members to ensure timely completion.
  • Prepare weekly and biweekly status reports, project dashboards, burndown charts, velocity metrics, and executive-level summaries.
  • Translate technical progress, challenges, and accomplishments into clear updates for program leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate activities across software engineering, QA, UI/UX, DevOps, infrastructure, and other supporting teams.
  • Track code-review, pull-request, testing, deployment, and release blockers affecting project deliverables.
  • Maintain project documentation and repositories in Confluence, SharePoint, GitHub Wiki, or similar platforms.
  • Ensure architecture diagrams, user guides, release documentation, and compliance approvals are properly maintained and archived.
  • Support application release schedules, testing and feedback cycles, production maintenance windows, and incident tracking.
  • Monitor software licensing needs, vendor updates, cloud-resource requirements, and related project allocations.
  • Track contract deliverables and required approvals against statements of work, project schedules, and program baselines.
  • Provide administrative and operational support that allows technical leaders to focus on engineering execution, team mentorship, and strategic priorities.

Overview

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
  • Experience maintaining project boards, backlogs, workflows, and reporting in Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
  • Experience coordinating sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, release activities, and other project meetings.
  • Ability to develop and maintain project schedules, milestone trackers, action-item logs, and RAID registers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical information into clear, executive-level summaries.
  • Experience preparing project status reports, dashboards, metrics, and leadership briefings.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify potential risks, schedule delays, resource constraints, and cross-team dependencies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with software engineers, technical leads, QA teams, UI/UX designers, DevOps personnel, infrastructure teams, vendors, and program leadership.
  • Experience maintaining project documentation in Confluence, SharePoint, GitHub Wiki, or similar repositories.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, follow through on assigned actions, and support teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting government contracts, formal deliverables, compliance requirements, or software licensing is preferred.
  • Project-management or Agile certification, such as CAPM, PMP, Certified ScrumMaster, or PMI-ACP, is preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, project management, information technology, computer science, or a related field; relevant professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
