Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Senior Project Manager to oversee complex projects and programs in a matrix environment. You will lead teams, manage scope, schedule, and budget, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure safe, economical, and customer-focused project execution.

Qualifications

• PM certification (PMP) preferred but not required; must obtain within 12 months of employment.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Experience in utilities is favorable.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise project and outage work.
• Apply Waterfall and Agile project management methods.
• Ensure safety compliance with AEP policies and Zero Harm goals.
• Manage cost and reallocate funding; communicate status updates.
• Lead planning meetings and provide detailed stakeholder presentations.
• Develop reports and maintain relationships with internal/external customers, vendors and regulators.
• Mentor project managers and provide guidance to the project team.
• Represent AEP with customers, vendors, and regulators as needed.
• Develop and manage procurement plans; oversee outside services contracts.
• Oversee closeout processes and assess project benefits realization.
