Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a seasoned leader to direct complex civil construction projects with revenues up to $100 million over multi-year durations. You will oversee up to 10 staff, coordinate with estimators and controls, and drive bid-to-build excellence while ensuring safety and client satisfaction.

The role requires a strong background in heavy civil, paving, and design-build environments, with proven leadership and financial forecasting capabilities to deliver profitable outcomes.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent experience in heavy civil construction.
• Minimum ten years progressive project experience in heavy civil environments.
• Minimum five years experience in paving, dirt, and grading in either private or public environments.
• Experience as a Large Projects Superintendent and Design-build projects are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform accurate project revenue and cost forecasting to meet profitability goals.
• Lead a staff of up to 10 full-time employees including hiring, firing, and performance reviews.
• Coordinate with estimators and project controls to establish budget and bid plans.
• Lead estimating efforts on vertically integrated projects for accurate bid-to-build processes.
• Coordinate with project sponsor and construction manager to manage resources for schedule.
• Participate in bid reviews and bid closings to ensure bid accuracy and feasibility.
• Develop comprehensive project startup and kickoff plans with the team.
• Foster environment of effective communication among project engineers, foremen, superintendents, and the construction manager.
• Ensure proper job controls: quantities, costs, revenue, and schedule.
• Establish long-term relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors.
• Ensure accurate construction reports for continuous performance improvement.
• Run projects at profitability levels to meet or exceed margins.
• Comply with and support safety initiatives for a safe work environment.
