Job summary

The Weitz Company in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Senior Project Manager for our Industrial unit with a preference for Power Generation experience. You will oversee multiple projects, lead teams, and ensure profitably delivered outcomes in alignment with standards.

You will manage schedules, safety plans, cost control, and stakeholder communications while mentoring others and upholding company policies. This role requires strong leadership and construction knowledge.

Qualifications

• Education: Industry-related college degree required; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience: minimum five years of construction experience including project management.
• Leadership: track record of mentoring and leading teams; semiconductor experience preferred.
• Skills: strong business acumen, communication, negotiation, and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project schedule; identify long lead items and update plans.
• Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts and purchase orders.
• Complete monthly status reports, owner billings and risk assessments.
• Identify value engineering and scope reduction opportunities.
• Ensure the project safety plan is communicated to team and subs.
• Assist with preconstruction efforts and buy-out processes.
• Detect constructability issues in project design.
• Understand contracts, budgets, insurances and change orders.
• Suggest staff development, assignments and promotions as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
