Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our Industrial team in Des Moines, IA. This role leads preconstruction cost control, prepares complete estimates, analyzes costs, and may head up preconstruction efforts across multiple projects.

With a history dating back to 1855, Weitz is a full-service contractor offering design-build and construction management. Ideal candidates have extensive industrial experience in power, manufacturing, and heavy industrial sectors and a proven track

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or similar.
• Ten years of estimating responsibility; supervisory experience is helpful.
• Strong conceptual estimating skills for complete systems.
• Ability to read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specs, and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Review estimates for accuracy, detail, and expectations.
• Develop scope of work, labor, and equipment costs from plans and specs.
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and pricing (self-perform or unit price).
• Coordinate with trades, suppliers, and local offices to verify costs.
• Enter data in estimating software and prepare bid analysis.
