Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead project teams in Des Moines, IA. You will oversee contracts, risk management, scheduling, safety plans, RFIs, submittals, and closeout processes to ensure on-time, on-budget project delivery.

Collaboration with clients, architects, and subcontractors is essential. Candidates should have 7+ years of construction project management, LEAN knowledge, OSHA 30, and proficiency with JDE, Procore, Bluebeam and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Industry-related bachelor's degree required; equivalent education/experience considered.
• 7+ years construction project management experience; LEAN desirable; OSHA 30 preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Proficiency with MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook; ability to learn JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, Asta.
• Strong initiative, independent judgment, project management and analytical skills; strong negotiation and client relations abilities.
• Experience with scheduling software (JDE, Procore, Bluebeam); Microsoft Office proficiency; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Understand contract terms to keep work in scope.
• Oversee risk management and mitigation for projects.
• Collaborate with team to achieve project goals and quality programs.
• Coordinate scheduling, identify long lead items, update project plans.
• Verify contracts, insurances, bonds and change orders before execution.
• Create and implement project safety plans and site compliance.
• Manage drawings, RFIs, and submittals.
• Track material/equipment delivery and flag schedule/cost impacts.
• Support preconstruction efforts and buyout process.
• Prepare scopes of work for subcontracts/POs.
• Produce monthly status reports and financial risk assessments.
• Solicit pricing and execute change orders with subs.
• Contribute to proposals and business development.
• Foster relationships with stakeholders and third parties.
• Closeout, punch lists, as-built drawings and warranties.
• Resolve disputes among subcontractors and vendors.
