Job summary

The Weitz Company’s Iowa Team seeks a Project Manager II to continue our 170 year legacy in Des Moines, IA. The role manages multiple medium projects or a single large project, collaborating with the Project Superintendent and handling all administrative and field construction activities.

You will report to the Senior Project Manager or Project Executive, lead project teams, manage schedules and costs, ensure safety plans, and identify improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Five years of commercial construction experience required.
• Experience managing others and mentoring staff is preferred.
• Strong communication and leadership skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and manage project schedule and changes to adhere to plan.
• Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
• Prepare monthly status reports, owner billings, and risk assessments.
• Identify value engineering and scope reduction opportunities.
• Ensure safety plans are communicated to team and subcontractors.
• Assist with preconstruction efforts.
• Manage buy-out process.
• Identify constructability issues in design.
• Understand contracts, budgets, insurance, bonds, and change orders.
• Recommend staff development and assignments.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
