Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Senior Estimator to join our Industrial team in Des Moines, IA. The ideal candidate will have extensive industrial experience in power, manufacturing, and heavy industrial projects.

You will lead preconstruction cost control, prepare comprehensive estimates, and perform cost analyses for multiple projects. Responsibilities include coordinating with trades and suppliers, reviewing plans and specifications, and mentoring staff on estimating best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Building Construction, or similar
• Ten years of estimating responsibility; experience with coordinating staff is helpful
• Excellent conceptual estimating skills and ability to identify complete systems from drawings

Responsibilities

• Review estimates for accuracy, detail, and expectations
• Develop scope, labor, and equipment costs from plans and specs
• Prepare quantity takeoffs and pricing
• Coordinate with trades, suppliers, and government offices
• Analyze manpower and equipment requirements for self-perform work
• Visit sites to identify gaps not in the design documents
• Prepare bid analyses and subcontractor pricing sheets
• Enter data in WinEst and manage estimates and alternates
• Coordinate with operations to plan safety and project schedules
• Assist with post-bid buyouts and subcontractor meetings
