Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Senior Project Manager for our Iowa Business Unit on a data center project in Des Moines, IA. You will lead complex construction efforts, manage budgets and schedules, and provide clear leadership to project teams and clients.

Responsibilities include risk assessment, stakeholder communication, coordination with architects/engineers, and mentoring team members to ensure successful project delivery. A strong background in commercial GC roles is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of construction experience in project management roles.
• Commercial construction experience with a general contractor is required.
• Experience in leading, developing, and mentoring teams.
• Industry-related college degree required; equivalent combination considered.
• Experience in senior living, student housing, hospitality, or multi-use living projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex construction projects from start to finish, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery and high quality.
• Provide leadership and direction to project teams; foster collaboration and track performance.
• Identify and mitigate project risks; monitor risk factors and implement strategies.
• Manage client and stakeholder communications; set expectations and resolve issues.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other key stakeholders; develop detailed plans and schedules.
• Develop budgets, schedules, resources, and procurement plans; manage expenses and progress reports.
• Oversee change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders; ensure adherence to contracts and scope.
• Mentor team members; delegate tasks and support professional growth.
