Job summary

CareerNerds, LLC seeks a Senior Project Manager for industrial EPC projects in our Houston facility, overseeing electrical or mechanical construction from preconstruction to closeout. The role requires 70% travel and strong cross-functional coordination with clients, executives, field teams, and subcontractors.

The candidate will lead project performance, ensure safety and contract compliance, and mentor junior PMs while driving process improvements across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of progressive experience in electrical, mechanical, industrial, utility, or EPC construction with significant financial and operational responsibility.
• PMP certification, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, and familiarity with applicable safety standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and accountability for the successful execution of large-scale electrical, mechanical, or industrial construction projects, overseeing all phases from preconstruction and budgeting through project closeout.
• Manage project financial performance, including budgets, cost forecasting, cash flow, profitability, change management, and financial reporting, while identifying risks and implementing corrective actions.
• Direct and coordinate project teams, superintendents, field crews, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure alignment with project objectives, resource requirements, schedules, and contractual obligations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with clients, owners, general contractors, and key stakeholders, serving as the primary contact for project performance, contract negotiations, issue resolution, and strategic planning.
• Oversee project scheduling, procurement, labor productivity, material management, and resource allocation to optimize operational efficiency and ensure successful execution of complex construction projects.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and applicable construction codes while promoting a proactive safety culture across all project sites.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to project managers and field leadership while collaborating with executive management to identify process improvements and growth opportunities.
