Job summary

The City of Houston is seeking a Senior Project Manager for Drinking Water Operations to lead contracts for the water distribution system, oversee bid processes, and coordinate multiple projects.

You will supervise staff, monitor budgets, maintain records, and liaise with city personnel, contractors, and external agencies to ensure timely, compliant project delivery. This role is based at 7101 Renwick Dr, Houston, with typical Monday–Friday hours.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's in Architecture, Civil/Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, or Project Management.
• Six (6) years of experience in construction, construction inspection, design, landscape design, geo-technical, environmental or related field.
• A Master's degree may substitute for two years of experience; related professional experience can substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development and administration of contracts for repair, maintenance, and condition assessment of the water distribution system.
• Manage preparation, planning, and submission of contracts for bid.
• Coordinate multiple contracts of various amounts; monitor contractor performance and submittals for compliance.
• Maintain project records, tracking, and reporting; monitor budgets and contract documentation.
• Serve as liaison between City personnel, contractors, and outside agencies; respond to inquiries from citizens and officials.
• Supervise staff, including training and development, and ensure effective communication across all levels.
