Job summary

The AES Corporation seeks a Senior Project Engineer to lead engineering for utility-scale solar PV and energy storage across development and construction phases. You will guide design development, optimization, modeling, equipment specs, and RFP support for M&A projects.

You’ll mentor engineers, define design standards, and coordinate with distributed teams to ensure high-performance execution. Travel up to 25% to project locations and partner offices may be required.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in solar PV system design, development, construction, and analysis.
• Proficiency in PV system design, including 1-line and 3-line diagram conventions, NEC design requirements, overcurrent protection sizing, and short circuit current analysis.
• Experience with medium voltage collector system design.

Responsibilities

• Perform full technical due diligence and risk assessment for the M&A projects.
• Full project design evaluation to identify red flags and fatal flows.
• Redesign and update layouts, energy production estimates, EPC cost estimates, and equipment selections.
• Coordinate with M&A developer to complete necessary RFP response documentation.
• Design for select projects up to 30% electrical, civil, structural, and mechanical.
• Develop scopes of work and technical contract exhibits.
• Seek and evaluate proposals for engineering services.
• Manage engineering consultants and EPC contractors to develop project construction drawings and support materials.
• Perform technical project due diligence and project engineering design reviews.
• Coordinate feedback from internal stakeholders and SMEs on design reviews.
• Value engineer PV and BESS system designs to maximize reliability and reduce cost.
• Establish/review technical specifications of owner furnished equipment with Procurement.
• Provide technical support during construction including RFIs.
• Perform QA/QC checks in the field.
• Develop punchlists and support commissioning activities.
• Review commissioning reports and analyze system performance.
• Support Owner’s Engineering during financing activities.
• Assist Operations/Asset Management teams to resolve technical issues at operating sites.
