Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead design and engineering of utility-scale solar PV and energy storage projects in development and construction phases. You will guide engineering across the full lifecycle, from design development to procurement support, and mentor junior engineers.

The role requires strong background in PV/BESS systems, leadership, and collaboration with distributed teams.

Qualifications

Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field.
5+ years of professional experience in solar PV system design, development, construction, and analysis preferred.
Proficiency in PV system design, including 1-line and 3-line diagram conventions, NEC design requirements, and protection sizing.
Experience with medium voltage collector system design.
Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team.
Proficient with MS Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Perform full technical due diligence and risk assessment for M&A projects.
Full project design evaluation to identify red flags and fatal flows.
Redesign and update layouts, energy production estimates, EPC cost estimates, and equipment selections.
Coordinate with M&A developer to complete RFP response documentation.
Design for select projects up to 30% electrical, civil, structural, and mechanical.
Develop scopes of work and technical contract exhibits.
Manage engineering consultants and EPC contractors to develop project construction drawings and support materials.
Perform technical project due diligence and design reviews.
Coordinate feedback from stakeholders on design reviews.
Value engineer PV and BESS designs to maximize reliability and reduce costs.
Establish technical specifications of owner furnished equipment with Procurement and Sourcing.
