Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Project Engineer to lead complex generation projects across the full lifecycle, with a primary focus on conceptual and detailed design, procurement, and technical support during construction and commissioning.

You will coordinate internal teams, external consultants, OEMs, EPC contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable, and cost‑effective delivery of utility‑scale assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET‑accredited program is required.
• Master's degree may be considered for entry into higher levels.
• Engineering Technology degree ok if PE license obtained.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the Engineering Work Plan.
• Lead the Engineering Design Review process and respond to RFIs.
• Coordinate design efforts with internal teams and external partners.
• Provide support during construction and facilitate project closeout.
• Provide regular updates on engineering progress to stakeholders.
