Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Project Engineer Senior/Principal to serve as the Engineering Lead for complex generation projects, spanning conceptual design, procurement, construction and commissioning. The role involves coordination with internal teams, external consultants, OEMs, EPC contractors and project stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective delivery of power assets.

Open to Rockport, IN or Columbus, OH onsite positions. Travel 25% required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program; PE license encouraged.
• 4+ years of related engineering experience for Senior SG8; 2 years with Master’s/PhD for higher levels.
• Willingness to travel 25% outside Ohio within the AEP footprint.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities among AEP, Developers, A/E and OEMs for Generation capital projects.
• Schedule and lead engineering meetings with project stakeholders; provide progress updates.
• Ensure work complies with company policies and external regulations; coordinate with internal and external teams.

Education

ABET-accredited engineering degree

Professional Engineer (PE) license
