Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking Project Engineers to lead multi-disciplinary generation projects from conceptual design through commissioning. You will coordinate internal teams, external consultants, OEMs, and EPC contractors to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective utility-scale assets.

The role emphasizes leadership, planning, and proactive problem solving across simple cycle, CCCT, solar, wind, and storage projects, with travel as needed and onsite work in Tulsa, OK or Columbus, OH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET‑accredited program with 2+ years of related engineering experience.
• Master’s degree may qualify for entry at SG8 or SG9 levels.
• Registration as PE is encouraged and preferred; ABET alternative paths exist.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage Engineering Work Plan.
• Lead the Engineering Design Review process and RFIs.
• Coordinate design efforts with internal and external partners.
• Support construction and project closeout activities; ensure timely completion.
• Provide regular progress updates to project team and stakeholders.
• Travel 25% outside of Ohio within the AEP footprint during construction.
