Job summary

American Electric Power seeks a Project Engineer to act as the Engineering Lead for complex generation projects across the full lifecycle, from conceptual design through commissioning. This on-site role requires coordinating with internal teams, external partners, and regulators to ensure safe, cost-effective delivery.

Travel up to 25% is required; roles span Simple Cycle, CCGT, solar, wind, BESS, and environmental retrofit projects across multiple US sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering accredited by ABET; PE license encouraged for senior levels.
• 4+ years of related engineering experience for SG8; 8+ years for SG9; ABET/PE alignment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the engineering activities among AEP, Developers, A/E, and OEMs for generation capital projects.
• Schedule and lead engineering meetings; provide progress updates to stakeholders.
• Coordinate design efforts and support construction and commissioning activities.
