Job summary

Hudbay Minerals U.S. Business Unit is seeking a Sr. Project Controls Lead in Casa Grande, AZ. You will oversee cost engineering, budgeting, estimating, scheduling, forecasting, change management, and risk for major mining capital projects.

Lead EPCM contractors, develop dashboards, support ERM reviews, and align CAPEX with finance. Strong Bachelors degree and 10–15 years’ experience required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in a related field.
• Minimum 10–15 years in project controls, cost engineering, scheduling in mining/industrial EPCM.
• 5+ years in a leadership role preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the strategy, setup, implementation, and governance of the project controls framework, systems, processes, and tools across all Cactus Mine project packages.
• Oversee the development, integration, and maintenance of the master project schedule (Primavera P6), baseline budget, WBS, and CBS.
• Establish and enforce cost engineering processes: commitment tracking, cash flow forecasting, trend analysis, EVM, and EAC updates.
• Implement a rigorous MOC process to evaluate, track, and approve project scope changes and contractor variations.
• Lead project cost reporting, dashboards, monthly reviews, stage-gate materials, and board summaries.
• Direct EPCM and third-party project controls teams to ensure Hudbay standards and formatting.
• Collaborate with procurement to monitor commitments, invoicing, progress payments, and contingencies.
• Facilitate QSRA/QCRA to assess contingency adequacy for ERM.
• Coordinate with finance and study leaders to align CAPEX forecasts and tollgate deliverables.
