Based at Cactus Mine in Casa Grande, AZ, you will lead the engineering execution for a major CAPEX project, overseeing EPCM consultants and design contractors to ensure technical integrity and safety in design. You will drive schedules, budgeting, and NAV optimization, coordinate with procurement, and lead risk management, change control, and design reviews across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Mining, or related).
• Minimum 12+ years in large-scale mining project execution and capital projects.
• Minimum 5+ years senior engineering leadership overseeing EPCM contractors.
• Experience managing EPCM consultants on mining or heavy industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of mine infrastructure, processing facilities, and site utilities.
• Proficient with Primavera P6/MS Project and cost/schedule control.
• Understanding of Safety in Design, HAZOP, and OSHA/MSHA regs.

Responsibilities

• Lead EPCM consultants and third-party contractors for basic and detailed engineering.
• Coordinate site-wide engineering scopes (crushing, leaching, SX/EW, tailings, utilities).
• Ensure compliance with Hudbay specs, standards, safety, and regulations.
• Manage schedules, procurement deliverables, and technical bid evaluations.
• Drive Safety in Design and environmental stewardship across disciplines.
• Oversee change control and technical queries across EPCM and vendors.
• Support NAV optimization and value engineering for major CAPEX.
• Maintain budget oversight and man-hour forecasting across contracts.
• Participate in tollgates, PFS/FS reviews, and PMP refresh.
• Assist in contract package prep and commercial bid evaluations.
