Job summary

CSG Talent is partnering with a mining company to recruit a Project Controls Manager for a major open-pit copper operation in Arizona. The role oversees cost, schedule and performance reporting across multiple projects, ensuring accurate forecasting and robust change management.

You will lead cost engineers, planners and schedulers, guiding teams to deliver on time and within budget while maintaining safety standards and coordination with site teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a business-related field with 8+ years of project controls or equivalent experience.
• High school diploma with 12+ years of relevant experience accepted in lieu of degree.
• Strong knowledge of cost control, estimating, forecasting, scheduling and project performance reporting.
• Experience leading and coordinating project controls disciplines within a busy project environment.
• Experience with ERP systems SAP and Primavera P6.

Responsibilities

• Lead project controls activities across multiple projects, ensuring consistent standards and accurate reporting.
• Oversee cost estimates, budgets and forecasts, explaining variances and incorporating risks and funding requirements.
• Maintain schedule baselines, monitor progress and develop recovery plans with project teams.
• Assess the cost and schedule impact of scope changes, design modifications and delays, supporting formal change management.
• Guide cost engineers, planners, schedulers and quantity surveyors to ensure reliable progress measurement.

CSG Talent is partnering with an established mining business to recruit a Project Controls Manager for a major open-pit copper operation in Arizona. You will oversee cost, schedule and performance reporting, providing the insight and leadership needed to support successful project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead project controls activities across multiple projects, ensuring consistent standards and accurate reporting.
• Oversee cost estimates, budgets and forecasts, explaining variances and incorporating risks, opportunities and funding requirements.
• Maintain schedule baselines, monitor progress and work with project teams to develop recovery plans.
• Assess the cost and schedule impact of scope changes, design modifications and delays, supporting formal change management.
• Guide cost engineers, planners, schedulers and quantity surveyors, ensuring reliable progress measurement.
• Review expenditure requests, procurement commitments and payment applications to ensure budget availability and appropriate approvals.

Essential experience

• A bachelor's degree in a business-related field with at least eight years of project controls or equivalent experience; alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent with at least twelve years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of cost control, estimating, forecasting, scheduling and project performance reporting.
• Experience leading and coordinating project controls disciplines within a busy project environment.
• Experience with ERP systems, SAP, Primavera P6 and enterprise project performance software.
• Ability to complete the required site-specific training and MSHA requirements.
