Job summary

Markel is seeking a claims professional to resolve complex professional liability claims with significant exposure. The role covers coverage analysis, quantum assessment, and timely resolution while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities include investigating and negotiating claims, managing defense counsel, and communicating developments to Claims Manager. Travel up to ~10% and strong teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional liability claims or litigation experience preferred.
• Excess liability experience a plus.
• College degree and/or professional designation required, JD preferred.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, negotiate and settle complex professional liability claims for lawyers, accountants and financial advisors insureds.
• Analyze coverage under primary and excess professional liability policies; draft coverage correspondence; communicate positions to stakeholders; manage coverage litigation.
• Manage nationwide litigation; supervise defense counsel; work toward expeditious resolution; assist in vendor management and bill payment.
