Job summary

Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the US refineries' Process Safety competency and support policy development beyond the US. The role requires extensive experience in HAZOPs, LOPA, PHA, and PSM compliance, with a strong emphasis on training and standards across Cenovus operations.

The successful candidate will guide risk methodology, coordinate major studies, and drive audits while collaborating with Canadian counterparts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 16+ years in Process Safety or related field.
• 10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals preferred.
• Experience leading multiple HAZOPs and MOCs.
• Familiarity with API, NFPA, CCPS codes and US regulations.
• Experience with Fire Hazard Analysis and PSM projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety as a US refineries competency; develop methods and policy.
• Train and develop Process Safety Engineers in Cenovus Risk Methodology.
• Design and maintain risk-training suite; QA/QC site deliverables.
• Champion key risk standards (PHA, RMP) across the org.
• Coordinate third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis).
• Drive assurance audits within the PSM space.
