Job summary

Cenovus Energy seeks a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead the US region's Process Safety competency, aligning with Cenovus Risk Methodology and regulatory standards. This role requires deep expertise in HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID, PHA standards, and RMP compliance across U.S.

refineries and collaboration with Canadian counterparts. The candidate will mentor engineers, drive risk training, oversee safety studies, and lead assurance audits within the PSM space while integrating

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
16+ years in Process Safety roles; 10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals preferred.
Experience leading multiple complex unit HAZOPs and MOCs; LOPA analyses.
Experience with API, NFPA, CCPS codes, and US regulations; RMP familiarity.

Responsibilities

Lead Process Safety across US Refineries, including methodology development and regulatory interpretation.
Develop and train Process Safety Engineers in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
Direct third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis) coordination and QA/QC of deliverables.
Drive audits and ensure PSM program compliance across projects.
