Job summary

Cenovus Energy seeks a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to drive Process Safety maturity across US refineries and coordinate with Canadian counterparts. This role leads methodology development, regulatory interpretation, and risk policy representation, acting as the US SME and thought leader in Process Safety.

The position requires extensive experience in HAZOP/LOPA, PHAST tooling, and RMP support, with a strong focus on training and risk-based decision making.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
Significant experience in process safety leadership within oil and gas.
Experience interpreting regulatory codes and industry standards.

Responsibilities

Lead process safety across US refineries, owning methodology development and policy representation.
Build and mentor Process Safety Engineers trained in Cenovus risk methodology.
Design and deliver risk training for site personnel and ensure QA/QC of deliverables.
Champion key risk standards (PHA, RMP) and coordinate third‑party studies.
