Job summary

Cenovus Energy is seeking a Senior Staff Process and Technical Safety Engineer to lead process safety competency across US refineries and support policy development beyond the US.

You will mentor engineers, develop risk training, and ensure compliance with PSM standards, HAZOP/LOPA practices, and regulatory interpretations.

This role requires a deep background in chemical/petrochemical safety and leadership across multi-site teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field required.
• 16+ years in a Process Safety role or closely related discipline required.
• 10+ years in Oil & Gas/Petrochemicals is an asset; certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Process Safety across US Refineries, owning methodology and regulatory interpretation.
• Develop and train Process Safety Engineers in Cenovus Risk Methodology (HAZOP, LOPA, HAZID).
• Design, deliver and maintain risk training and QA/QC of site deliverables.
• Champion key risk standards (PHA, RMP) across the organization.
• Coordinate third-party studies (Facility Siting, Fire Hazard Analysis).
• Drive assurance audits within the PSM space.
