Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Process Engineer for our Water/Wastewater team in the US. You will lead advanced wastewater treatment design projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with national experts to deliver practical solutions.

Based in Chantilly, VA with a hybrid work model, you will manage complex projects, support technical proposals, and engage with clients to optimize capital improvements and sustainable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional Engineer license.
• 8+ years of wastewater treatment design experience.
• Ability to lead process engineering for a large complex wastewater treatment project.
• Excellent written and oral communication; ability to mentor staff.
• Strong business development and proposal skills.
• Flexible and able to meet challenging deadlines.
• Strong client focus.

Responsibilities

• Execute advanced process designs for municipal and industrial wastewater facilities.
• Collaborate with senior national experts to implement innovative wastewater treatment technologies.
• Mentor and provide technical direction to junior process engineers.
• Assist with technical proposals, crafting process approaches and solutions.
• Conduct complex process modeling (BioWin, Sumo, GPS-X).
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of design calculations, reports, and drawings.
• Facilitate technical workshops for clients on process alternatives and capital improvements.
• Support on-site facility startups and operational troubleshooting.
• Engage with equipment manufacturers to stay current on technology trends.
• Manage bench-scale and pilot-scale studies; provide scale-up recommendations.
• Develop Multi-Criteria and Life Cycle Analyses for decision making.
• Participate in regional and national professional organizations.
