Job summary

TKDA, a 100% employee-owned firm, is seeking a process engineer to lead multidisciplinary projects in mining, mineral processing, and heavy industry. You will develop PFDs, P&IDs, mass/energy balances, and design criteria while coordinating with mechanical, electrical, and environmental teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, set design standards, and drive continuous improvement, safety, and efficiency across complex facilities. Domestic travel is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related field.
• Experience as lead engineer on multidisciplinary industrial projects.
• Strong knowledge of process design, hydraulics, piping, pumping, bulk solids handling, equipment selection, and safety.
• Experience with PFDs, P&IDs, process calculations, and engineering specifications.
• Excellent communication, leadership and project coordination skills.
• Willingness to travel to facilities and project sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead process engineering for mining, mineral processing, aggregate, metals, and heavy industry.
• Develop PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and design criteria.
• Design and specify industrial process systems including piping, pumps, conveyors, dust collection, water treatment.
• Perform hydraulic calculations, equipment sizing, analyses, and evaluations.
• Develop equipment specs and procurement packages.
• Identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements for safety and efficiency.
• Develop project scope, budgets, schedules, and work plans.
• Coordinate with disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.).
• Provide technical oversight and QA of deliverables.
• Support in managing client expectations.
• Participate in design reviews and readiness activities.
• Engage with clients, site visits, and proposals.
• Mentor junior engineers.
• Establish standards and quality procedures.
• Contribute to best practices and knowledge sharing.
• Promote innovation and continuous improvement.
