Job summary

Compeer Financial seeks a senior legal professional to lead privacy, information law, and data governance. The role guides AI governance, data protection, and third-party risk, drafting and negotiating complex technology agreements and advising leadership on legal risk.

The attorney will serve as Privacy Officer, manage data protection compliance, and oversee privacy incident response while collaborating across IT, risk, and business teams in a hybrid, U.S.-based setting.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. state.
• Extensive experience in privacy, technology transactions or information law within regulated environments.
• IAPP privacy certifications (CIPP/US, CIPM or CIPT) preferred or equivalent experience.
• Ability to draft and negotiate complex technology agreements, including data processing and AI terms.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills with business leadership.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Privacy Officer, leading the privacy program and data governance framework.
• Draft, draft-review and negotiate complex technology, data, and service agreements.
• Advise on AI governance, data ownership, licensing, and data-sharing practices.
• Lead incident response in data breach scenarios and coordinate with security teams.
• Provide enterprise-wide legal counsel on privacy and information law developments.
