Job summary

Sound Transit is seeking a Principal Construction Manager to oversee multiple rail and bus rapid transit projects, from planning through pre-construction. The role will split time between closeout with the Federal Way Link Extension and the start-up of the West Seattle Link Extension, eventually transitioning to full-time West Seattle support.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least five years of construction management experience, including leadership

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or closely related field.
• Five years of construction management experience that includes heavy civil, buildings, and underground structures experience, contract administration, and design management.
• Three years of leadership, budgetary, planning and workforce management experience, preferably in a transit/transportation related environment.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, coordinates, and reviews the work of assigned staff; assigns work activities and coordinates schedules, projects, and programs.
• Coaches, trains, and motivates staff; manages employee relations and performance.
• Manages the work and performance of Project Coordinators, Construction Managers, and Deputy Construction Managers.
• Provides overall construction management direction for assigned projects, ensuring proper contract compliance and changes.
• Oversees and coordinates external consultants and DBPM/CMC tasks and scope.
• Participates in budget development and monitoring for staffing, equipment, and materials.
