Job summary

Turner Construction Company seeks an experienced preconstruction leader to manage the BU Estimating department for data center facilities. You will guide cost strategies, bid development, and risk assessment while coordinating with design partners, procurement, and operations to win work.

You will mentor staff, drive performance reviews, and collaborate across BD and operations to ensure timely, accurate estimates and constructability input across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field is required.
• Minimum of 10 years of building construction experience.
• Strong understanding of drawings, specifications and contract documents.
• Ability to provide both qualitative and quantitative analysis of estimating documents.
• Extensive knowledge of construction cost, scheduling, estimating, purchasing and engineering principles.
• Proven ability to develop client relationships and identify sales opportunities.
• Deep knowledge of the regional market, competition, and industry trends.
• Advanced project management skills to move multiple projects forward in a complex environment.
• Experience in coaching and mentoring others; leadership capability.
• Strong negotiation and executive presentation skills; effective cross-functional influence.

Responsibilities

• Manage BU Estimating department and estimating functions during preconstruction and allocate resources.
• Oversee reimbursement of Estimating staff related to G&A expenses.
• Develop and maintain client relationships with architects, design community, and trade partners.
• Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance feedback and staff development.
• Review drawings, specifications, and construction documents; flag design-related risks.
• Lead lump-sum bid development and obtain senior management approval.
• Conduct market research for upcoming work and cost trends.
• Coordinate GC/GR estimates development and procurement schedules.
• Manage budget control reports and variance communications for milestones.
• Collaborate on proposals with Business Development and client presentations.
• Support Lean Pull Plans and Constructability Reviews across milestones.
• Lead or support Target Value Design where appropriate, and other duties as assigned.
